Developing Mindfulness – MINDFUL YOU
Mindfulness – to be alert and attentive in a way that cultivates clarity, insight and understanding - a basic human quality, a way of paying wise attention to whatever is happening to you in your life that allows you a greater sense of connection to your life inwardly and outwardly.
You’ve probably encountered moments of “mindlessness” — a loss of awareness resulting in forgetfulness, separation from self, and a sense of living mechanically. When we exist on “auto-pilot” much of the day we tend to just automatically react rather than thoughtfully act in our daily lives. Mindlessness is being in a state of unawareness of where we are, what we are feeling and why we are doing what we are doing. Those are the moments that contribute most to our stress. For example: eating foods that we know are not healthy for us; spending time with people who cause us emotional distress; or taking part in activities that are stressful, harmful or unnecessarily distracting.
Mindfulness is a way of learning to relate directly to whatever is happening in your life. It is not something that you have to “get” or acquire. Mindfulness refers to being completely in touch with and aware of the present moment, as well as taking a non-evaluative and non-judgmental approach to your inner experience. A mindful approach to one's inner experience is simply viewing "thoughts as thoughts" as opposed to evaluating and judging certain thoughts as positive or negative.
With me as your life coach you will learn how to take charge of your life and do something for yourself that no one else can do for you. When you act in mindful ways you make more clear decisions that are congruent with what you value and who you want to be. When you develop the ability to use mindfulness in your life, you will have an understandinhg of the interplay of mind and body and be able to mobilize your own inner resources for decision making, coping, growing, and thriving as a MINDFUL YOU!
